More on Newsome...
The dust is settling around the Kevin Newsome commitment to Penn State, and we're left asking ourselves, "what happens now?"
As I thought, with all the buzz around Newsome, Pat Devlin is already a distant memory among Penn State fans. Sure, there's some lingering thoughts in the backs of our minds, but overall, it's on to the Rose Bowl and 2009. I was curious to see what the other camps thought about this Newsome thing, and what better place to go than MGoBlog's message boards.
There were the simple, and straightforward... "that really blows"
For history buffs..."We can always hope he gets the Michael Robinson treatment, right?"
Changing the subject entirely... "So he didn't want to run the spread offense and decomitted... and then goes to a school running the spread offense... Of course, if he'd gone to VaTech I could have made the joke that he was going to a school running the no offense."
The requisite Joe Paterno smear... "He will change his mind and transfer from Penn State in two years. Like he is going to stand for getting yelled at from a 85 year old guy? (who just signed a new 3 year contract today)"
To the completely classless display of why we all hate the "other team's fans"... "I hope Kevin Newsome and Anthony Fera get in a non-fatal but athletically debilitating car accident. And I hope Tate and Brandon Gibbons are driving the other car and walk away unscathed."
Now, on that last one, I realize if one doesn't want to hear pretty nasty and tasteless garbage, just stay away from message boards completely. But that was just pathetic on that UM fan's part.
*FYI - I'll have a new recruiting roundup sometime soon, so keep checking back. Today and tomorrow I'm posting my bowl previews, with today's installment going through the first 17 bowls (EagleBank thru Holiday).

of course, you fail to mention that everyone responding to that called that guy a jackass.
And, uh re Pat Devilin: "can go f*ck himself. Good riddance, loser."
In conclusion, you suck.
It is a greta pick up for Penn State, but I thought his decommitment to Michigan was old news. What do the Hokie fans have to say I wonder?
... and Brian, uh re: re: Pat Devlin: "made the right decision. Best wishes, Pat."
In conclusion, if you're going to use my own words against me, you should pay closer attention.
Both choices in my Devlin poll were to show that people get very charged over these kinds of things... just like some of your readers on MGoBoard.
