2008 Preview: The Top 10 Early Heisman Contenders
I'll give it to you short and sweet today. This is too early to gauge who can win the Heisman in 2008. But if I were to give an off the cuff list of who I think can contend...
1. Pat White - He launched himself for next season by tearing apart Oklahoma.
2. Sam Bradford - The Fiesta Bowl aside, this kid is for real.
3. Chase Daniel - Probably the most underrated player in the nation.
4. Chris Wells - If a traditional running back was to win it all in 2008, Wells can.
5. Jamal Charles - Has to be more consistent, but has a great supporting cast.
6. Tim Tebow - Yell all you want, but he can't take that much punishment again.
7. Todd Reesing - Another who benefits from a huge bowl game win.
8. Jonathan Stewart - Has been totally overshadowed by Dennis Dixon.
9. PJ Hill - This kid is like Ron Dayne's clone, but injuries have hurt.
10. Jeremy Macklin - Reggie Bush, but on a lower-profile team; not for long, though.
Just for kicks...
(Big) 11. Penn State's starting quarterback, assuming a spread offense is run. If Michael Robinson could go from a "career disappointment" to fifth in the Heisman voting his senior (and only starting) season, it can happen this year with either Daryll Clark or Pat Devlin.
