Alamo Bowl Review

PSU 24, A&M 17

Summed up in one word: Stressful.

Summed up in one phrase: Bend, but don't break.

Star of the game, Offense: Rodney Kinlaw. Ripping off those 10-yarders were just what PSU needed to get the focus away from Morelli.

Star of the game, Defense: Tyrell Sales. I know, Sean Lee was fantastic, but Sales had a key sack, and pressured Stephen McGee into slipping on the fourth-and-one play.

Play of the game: Deon Butler's diving 30-yard touchdown catch on fourth down.

Coaching adjustment of the game: Penn State's defensive staff shutting down the A&M option attack after the first quarter.

Final thoughts: Not a great win, but a necessary one if PSU wants to set itself up for 2008... This team should enter next season underrated and full of senior leadership, just like 2005... The coaching staff better start convincing Evan Royster to stay, or he'll be gone after his junior campaign--he's that good... Where was the dual-quarterback attack in the first 12 games?
