SEC coaches, and their hats

ZN's 2009 Penn State Football Preview - Just for Fun

College football has many faces. More specifically, it has many different cultures depending in which region you travel. In the North: cold weather, pounding run games. In the West: high-flying pass games, sunny beaches. In the South: hot weather, fast players... and coaches' hats. Yup, with all that heat, all that sun, coaches (most of them) have to protect themselves from the brutal weather. From The Bayou to The Sunshine State, hats are a little-known, yet somehow signature part of Southern college football. And since I didn't really feel like putting together a substantive post today, let's take a trip around the nation's most "Southern" conference, fittingly, the SEC.

Sometimes, an SEC coach's hat can be used for practical purposes, like shielding the hot southern sun:

Sometimes, an SEC coach's hat can create his own style, or image, like being a tough, no-nonsense leader:

Sometimes, an SEC coach will bring his hat wherever he goes:

Somtimes, a hat can enhance an SEC coach's senses, like funneling sound for better hearing over those insanely loud SEC crowds:

Sometimes, though, in the hot SEC weather, a coach's hat may become uncomfortable:

Sometimes, an SEC coach might forget to wear his hat, making him very upset:

Sometimes, an SEC coach might not wear a hat during a game, but get pissed off at one of his staff for not following his lead:

Sometimes, an SEC coach's hat can cause bouts of insanity:

Yet, other times, an SEC coach's hat can be so gawsh-darn fun:

I hope you enjoyed our tour of college football's greatest conference ever in the history of the universe to the max. Not only are their players faster than a Formula 1 race car, their coaches are the brightest, and best the sport has to offer. But the real star power in the SEC never carries the ball, doesn't call the plays or win the MNC every year. No, the true ultimate ruling force in the most southern of southern football, is the head coaches' hats.

Is it autumn yet?
