ZN's CFB Top 25 :: Week 14 2009
Tell me why there are 15 weeks for a 12-game regular season. A ton of teams didn't even play this week, while this upcoming weekend will offer up a mix of regular season and conference championship games. All I'm asking for is a little more organization to the college football schedule. Georgia Tech and Pitt both fell this week, but probably not as much as you're expecting. Penn State's back in the top 10, while I'm holding out on USC for its poor sportsmanship against UCLA.

Notes: With Georgia Tech, Clemson and Pitt all losing this week, it kind of takes the luster off the ACC Championship Game, and the default Big East title game between the Panthers and Cincinnati. But all the losses this week didn't actually impact who will win the championships. Pitt can still knock off Cincy, and the GT/Clemson winner will still be off to the Orange Bowl, probably to face the Pitt/Cincy winner. The Top 25 is kind of in a holding pattern until this weekend, when pretty much everything gets worked out on the field. Now, that doesn't include the national title debate, but we'll at least know a whole lot more than we do right now. Oh yeah, don't forget this Thursday night is Oregon vs Oregon State for the Pac 10 title. This is exactly why I don't support a full-blown playoff bracket system for the FBS.
