What, you actually expected a thoughtful, insightful piece of journalism from CBS's Dennis Dodd?

"Monday was also a glimpse of your future, Joe. No farewell tour. Possibly a minor bowl. Basically being run out on somebody else's terms."

Geez, I forgot how much I didn't miss reading his crap.

I refuse to link to hit jobs like this one, mainly because the entire idea behind them is to generate web hits by whoring out any journalistic credibility for the sake of the all mighty dollar. But I find it interesting how any half-sane human could possible reach the same conclusions as Dodd has in his steaming pile of words published this morning. I suggest you take five minutes (it will seem much longer, and you'll probably want to X-out the window before you're finished, but trust me, finish reading it), clench your teeth, and read this thinly veiled yellow journalism.

World caving in on the SEC crew

Sure, we in the Big Ten know all too well what it's like to scream, week in and week out, that the SEC isn't the NFL-lite. Right now, the only friends of the SEC are ESPN and CBS (note: the two networks that have financial interests in hyping up the conference), while everyone else outside of the SEC/ESPN/CBS axis of evil knows the truth: The SEC just isn't that good this year.

Take a few minutes, and read this blog entry. It's worth the time.

So let me get this straight. Dan Connor is the best defensive player in college football, but isn't good enough for CBS SportsLine's All-America Team? I'm getting really sick of this shit that CBS has been pulling for too long. As if the SEC needed another national media cheerleader, CBS has been leading the charge for years that the holier-than-thou conference is the biggest and best year in and year out. Don't even get me started on the mythical "SEC speed" that can beat any "slower" Big Ten team (2007 Outback Bowl: Penn State 20, Tennessee 10; 2007 Capital One Bowl: Wisconsin 17, Arkansas 14)or "smaller" Big East team (2006 Sugar Bowl: West Virginia 38, Georgia 35).

I won't go into this too much today, because it's just another never-ending argument of college football. But it's a bit of a coincidence that CBS chose LSU's Ali Highsmith as their third All-American linebacker over Dan Connor. James Laurinaitis made almost every AA team, but Connor made only one? I won't go into comparing Laurinaitis to Connor, but they're almost exactly the same, with the slight leadership edge to Connor. But to put Highsmith in over Connor is ridiculous.
