Paterno presser quick hits

Penn State is out of practice rounds. Now, Minnesota comes to town, and will be followed by five Big Ten teams just like the Gophers, or better. Here are some highlights from Joe Paterno's weekly press conference.

• Doesn't look like Sean Lee will go again this week. But you never know. Still, don't get your hopes up.

• Eric Decker and Adam Weber (Minny's WR&QB) are really good working together, but their not the entire offense. Decker is a real danger if you ignore him, but so is the rest of the receiver corps if you focus too much on the star. But in clutch situations, don't let Decker beat you.

• On the injury front, Nerraw McCormack and DeOn'Tae Pannell will both miss this week. Right now Ako Poti will get the RT spot again, but he did well enough last week. D'Anton Lynn was a bit banged up, but will be fine.

• Justin Brown isn't officially the new punt return specialist, but he's close. Joe's still apprehensive about playing freshmen in such important positions.

• It would be nice if Kevin Newsome keeps developing as he has this season. He's not there yet, but will be if he keeps working hard.

• Larry Johnson, Sr. is the best single position coach in the nation. Bill Kenney is up there, too.

• Gerald Hodges will most likely stay at linebacker (I didn't know he moved), where Joe thinks he could be a really special player. The coaches think he has more potential as a linebacker.

• Brandon Ware is skipping classes and still really fat. So, he'll be chillin' in Joe's doghouse for the rest of this season.

• Overall, Joe has been really pleased with how the team has developed this season, particularly this last week or so. He said things are starting to really click for the younger guys, as in "getting it" when it comes to what you have to do to be a really good team.

• Penn State has probably the best linebackers in the nation, but haven't been healthy enough to show it. Joe really likes them all, a lot.

I know, this week was kind of meh. But the season is going to get really interesting really fast. Can't wait.
