ZN's Top 25, Sept. 4
You may wonder why some teams dropped so far (or out completely) or jumped. If it were up to me, there would be no polls until week 4 or 5. However, in order to keep up with what readers want, I'm ranking teams where I want to rank them. If you need any other reason to wait until week 4 or 5 for polls, look no further than the Appalachian State win in the Pig House.
1. Oklahoma (LW: 2) Looked outstanding against a bad team like NT.
2. USC (1) Looked bored against a bad team like Idaho.
3. Louisville (3) Looked the way they should. Brohm just gets better, but we'll see.
4. LSU (4) Actually a good game for the first quarter. LSU's O-line was shaky for a while.
5. Wisconsin (5) Beating a decent BCS school is a must for UW's title hopes.
6. West Virgina (7) Shouldn't have given up so many points, but still won no problem.
7. Florida(11) And why was W. Kentucky allowed to score?
8. California (14) Tennessee is a little overrated, but Cal is a little underrated.
9. Penn State (15) Now that's what I call an opening day warm up.
10. Ohio State (12) Not bad, not great.
11. UCLA (13) A little slow to start, but got rolling OK.
12. Texas (8) Wow, this one got covered up by ASU/UM.
13. Virginia Tech (10) I don't care what happened, it shouldn't have been close.
14. Nebraska (16) Good, old fashioned NU ground game.
15. Auburn (18) KSU is a good team, but AU is a bit better.
16. Georgia (19) Nice win, I actually picked OSU.
17. Rutgers (20) Even the ESPN crew was surprised by this week.
18. Arkansas (21) A bit sloppy, but a win none the less.
19. Tennessee (17) Come on SEC, if you want respect, win this game.
20. Oregon (22) UO could make UM 0-2 since... well, you know the rest.
21. Texas A&M (23) Settled down after the 1Q.
22. Missouri (25) Illinois is better than anyone thinks.
23. TCU (NR) Let's see this week at UT.
24. Georgia Tech (NR) I said the defense was good. They were.
25. Hawaii (NR) And the poll dance begins.
Dropped Out:
6. Florida St. - I wanted to give you a chance, but you screwed yourself.
9. Michigan - HA!
24. Virginia - Really? You don't care that much?
29. Oklahoma St. - So much for the greatest offense in the world.
