EIU added to 2009 schedule

Well, you thought PSU would man up and avoid a FCS (I-AA) opponent for its Oct. 10 open date in the 2009 football season. Think again. The Journal Gazette/Times Courier Online, of Charleston/Mattoon, IL announced that Eastern Illinois has finalized an agreement to play a football game versus Penn State in Happy Valley, Oct. 10, 2009. This is pathetic. Penn State has dropped down as far as it could possibly go. It's not like Syracuse is good, or Notre Dame. Why not schedule a big-time game with someone like West Virginia or FREAKING PITT!!! Then wait until the schedule allows for a return date. The PSU athletic department's logic on this one is just crazy. Maybe PSU just likes beating up on teams called "the Panthers."
