Are they really that fed up with JoePa?

You can't make this stuff up. Apparently, some moron ransacked the Lasch Building the night he turned 21. Ah, these kids. Can't they hold their alcohol anymore? From the Daily Collegian:

"A student is facing various charges after police said he entered the Lasch Football Building on Thursday morning and caused $5,000 worth of damage -- all while wearing a Penn State football helmet. Daniel J. Costenbader (junior-electrical engineering), who turned 21 today, was arraigned on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and public drunkenness before Magisterial District Justice Carmine Prestia, according to court documents. He was released on $50,000 unsecured bail."
Well, at least the kid's got team spirit, and originality, wearing that Penn State helmet. After all, we wouldn't want a promising young engineering student like that hurting his head, now would we?

"Following a night of drinking at his friend's University Terrace apartment and two downtown bars, Costenbader told police he was on his way back to his Toftrees apartment when he decided to hop the fence onto the football practice field. He told police he stripped to his boxer shorts and began running around the field, hitting tackling dummies. He then saw an open gate and headed toward the Lasch building, according to court documents.

Though Costenbader told police he doesn't remember much about being in the building, he admitted to breaking a glass window as well as being in the locker and weight rooms, according to court documents. While inside, Costenbader allegedly damaged a window in the training office by throwing weights at it, flipped two tables and two trampolines in the training room and broke a window in the south lobby.

When police entered the building, Costenbader was seen picking up the Alamo Bowl trophy, valued at $2,000, which he then put back down. A stolen equipment bag, valued at $40, was also found near the first broken window and contained eight Nike footballs, valued at $50 each, Nike cleats, valued at $125."
So as we can figure out by now, the Lasch Building isn't exactly Fort Knox. You'd think that a multi-million dollar facility housing hundreds of priceless pieces of Penn State football history would be a bit more secure than this. Naaah. Don't worry, folks. Nothing to see here.

Seriously, it's not like this kid barely got into the building before being tackled by several security officers. He had a freaking scrimmage with himself before the cops arrived!

On a side note, I once had Magisterial District Justice Carmine Prestia when I contested a speeding ticket. The cop I was challenging was such a dick-head, and when he mispronounced my name, Prestia totally bitch-slapped his ass by correcting him out loud in front of me, a dumb college kid. I ended up paying the ticket, but the moral victory against the State College Police Department was enough vindication for me.
